Customer Evaluations
I've owned the Penn Senator 113H for a lot of years and the Daiwa Saltist 30H for 2 years now. I like both reels and when they are not great, they each have their own strengths that's well worth the $175 I paid for them. I like the line capacity/cranking power of the Senator and the high speed retrieve/weight of the Saltist. I have 2 boys now huge sufficient to share the reels when we go out so I researched extended and tough to discover the very best priced reel that I can use for the next ten years. I decided to get the Fathom FTH25N for casting and FTH40LW for bottom fishing. Got it just before Christmas and implemented them both 3 times already on Party boats. The 25N is non level wind and narrow, demands particularly tiny work in guiding the line on retrieve. I spooled it with 65 spectra and topshot with 25 sufix mono. It regularly throws bait farther than my Penn Slammer spinning reel. The cranking power of the 40LW was unbelievable. Put to use it on 12/31 aboard the speed twin fishing for red snapper at the channel islands and it was wide-open bottom fishing all day long. I was reeling in two red snappers per drop among 5-10 pounds every. The effortless retrieve of the 40LW will make you think you have a tiny fish at the finish of your line until they reach the top and you realize you've got massive reds. If you time your obtain, amazon sells the FTH25N for $137 and the FTH40LW for $155. I assume the reels are worth the $219 MSRP but be patient and you are going to get it for significantly less.
Fantastic reel for a excellent value. The reel is super light and looks to be a fish killer with minimal to medium bling (I seriously could care much less about the bling factor). Got it loaded with 325 yards of 40 lbs monofilament line which is way more than advertised. Absolutely nothing else to report.
