Costumer Reviews

They perform awesome and last forever.

The perfect reel under $35 you can get (excluding other Shimano models below $35, which just get greater and far better for just about every extra dollar you devote).

Smooth (comparatively, it only charges $13), flawless efficiency, difficult.

I have a lot of these (1000s, 2500s and 4000s) that are over 15 years old, and had been topic to pretty heavy saltwater use, and they nevertheless function fine.

I have caught literally hundreds of Mangrove snapper, Snook to 25 lbs, Tarpon to 30 lbs on this model, and they continually come via.

For youngsters or beginners, you cannot uncover a improved beginning reel.

I use them as "assembly line" rods on an intercoastal dock I fish on. I put 6 or 8 of them in rod holders, baited with reside shrimp, and wait for the action. (I'd say the typical reel I personal has spent over 100 hours in a rod holder, obtaining hit constantly by stingrays, snappers, snook and other game fish, and tackle busting Sail cats).

My 1000, with 6lb test line, out fought a 15 pound Jack Crevalle (who was getting chased the whole fight by a 6 foot Lemon shark and a 6 foot Hammerhead shark so you know the jack was swimming at complete speed :) ) throughout a 60 minute fight on the flats in the Keys.

Buy a single and you will be happy!

BTW, I in no way use the trigger bail thingy, but it appears to operate fine.

I've had a single of these reels for about 15 years. Now it hasn't been applied continually the complete time. Well I own numerous alot more reels now and the ix has given me the least quantity of trouble. I'm comparing this with $90 reels. It castes and retrieves fairly well. The a single significant plus about this reel is that is has under no circumstances broken. This is a very good low-cost reel that holds up to lots of use.
